World
Trade Centre
Special
Reports
A
look at the ways in which followers of Christ can wisely respond to
the destruction of the New York Trade Centre on Tuesday, 11th
September 2001. Richard Smith begins with this thought: "the whole
world is in uproar; it is time for true believers of Christ to keep
their nerve". Current events will prove to be a rare opportunity
for witness and service!
Some
truths about Islam, Muhammed's followers! Since the recent tragedy at
the World Trade Center in NY many Muslim scholars and clerics have come
forth on TV, radio, and public meetings, to assure us that Islam itself
does not teach its adherents to act in violence. We keep hearing, "the
terrorists have hi-jacked Islam". Is this true? Here is a well-researched
and thorough document that will help you explore the realities of what
we face. (PDF

This
article covers the most recent news reports and happenings since September
11th, and looks at the move towards globalisation resulting from that
world-changing moment. It discusses the New World Order, the single
currency, new laws on incitement to religious hatred, and peace in the
Middle East.
"The
New Apostolic Government - What Earthy Good Is It?"
By
Sandy Simpson of DITC. An expose of the "Open Memorandum Addressing
The Twin Towers War" by C. Peter Wagner who is being called the
"Presiding Apostle" of the International Coalition of Apostles.
An
external link to Dave Hunt's October newsletter where he says:
"In his brief speech to the nation the morning of the 12th, President
Bush declared that the attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. were
"acts of war." Indeed, they were jihad ("holy war").
He said that "freedom and democracy are under attack [but] we will
not allow this enemy to win the war by...restricting our freedoms."
Is it a mere coincidence that the freedom of speech, religion, the press,
and of vote and conscience which we hold so dear in America are suppressed
in every Muslim country?"
This
timely message by David Wilkerson of Times Square Church, New York,
calls us all to think carefully about the consequences of defying God's
call to repentance.
"Run
For Your Life!" by Pastor Carter Conlon of Times Square Church
A
strong message from the Senior Pastor at David Wilkerson's church. Based
on 1 kings chapter 18, he teaches that many are captivated by Baalish
religion and we need to say, as did those who fled the falling towers,
"run for your life". Although I disagree that we will see
times of renewal as people repent, I endorse this call for an undivided
heart and a cleansing from all that offends God at this time.
This
News Flash contains some important considerations and warnings after
the recent tragic attack on the World Trade Centre.
Looking
at early reports of the consequences of the WTC attack, it appears that
a religious and political union is being formed to confront global terrorism.
Is this as good as it sounds?
An
article on the Moriel Ministries site. I quote here an introductory
comment sent to me by William D. Brehm :...everywhere from the White
House to papers sprawled at some of the street memorials around New
York, I keep seeing the words, "Islam is not the enemy". For
a point of view on this issue that I totally affirm, see this Web page
(above). Understand that the man who wrote the page is an international
teacher/evangelist who has been a missionary in Israel and has had direct
dealings with Islam. He is also one of the best informed Christians
alive insofar as knowing what is going on in the world spiritually.
You may not like what he says, but you can be sure that he knows whereof
he writes. Face it Christians, we are at war, and not just in the military
sense. There is a spiritual war going on in which we are going to have
to choose sides. I intend to do what I can to get Christians involved
in really fighting it. The point is, as Paul said in Ephesians 6:12,
"We struggle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in heavenly places". Bread

Please
go to this site, read the reports of what the Taliban is doing to Christians,
and then PRAY for the prisoners inside Afghanistan - would you like
to be in their shoes right now? NO? Then - pray for them!!! Also please
see this site: Christian
Freedom International. It has many links relating to the current
situation.
The
fallout from the tragedy continues, and one worrying development is
the way Blair and others are preparing to overthrow the Human Rights
treaty to introduce even tighter controls on those who are perceived
as a threat to society. This could eventually include dissident Christians,
in my opinion. There is also talk of compulsory ID cards - and more.
Read the newspaper reports here.
Writers
who know Afghanistan and the Taliban report on the situation. Here you
can read about Afghanistan's fall into chaos, the plight of its people
and how difficult the task of rooting out the Taliban could be. Very
thought-provoking reports that you should take time to read.

Here
are the much talked-about photos of the smoke of the burning towers
that some say show the devil's face.
Two prominent religious leaders issued statements and counter-statements
about the terrorist attacks. They then retracted their statements after
receiving public criticism. A good example of the confusion gripping
the churches at the moment.
This speech following the WTC disaster, penned by the evangelical Christian
who is responsible for many of Bush's public statements to the nation,
should make us think about where we are all heading and what are the
implications for Christians. (My commentary on this is given in "An
Alliance Against Evil" )
